What a week we had! I owe a special thank you to the Democratic caucus leadership for hosting me for a meet-and-greet event in the shadow of the capital. Their support is huge for making sure we hold this seat going into the redistricting rounds of 2020.

I was back in Tallahassee for the last round of legislative committee meetings before the 2020 session. Together with the Democratic Caucus, we stood up for justice for the Groveland Four, held the line against those who try to repeal a woman's right to choose, and went on offense in our demands to fight for clean water and against climate change.

It's hard to get things done when the Republicans control every aspect of the House, which is why we need to fight so hard for seats like this one that will help us peel-back the majority.

A few weeks ago, Danny Kushmer entered our race on the Republican side. After three separate shootings last week rocked our community and Danny offered a half-hearted #ThoughtsandPrayers tweet, I asked him what his plan was to reduce gun violence. Spoiler alert, we're still waiting for his reply.

I get trolled a lot; frankly, fighting for what I believe in will inevitably upset some people and a certain element of trolling is probably just par for the course.

That said, I received this earlier and simply wanted to say, let's try to be more civil in our conversations. I understand partisan people have passionate views, but can we please be more understanding and exercise more compassion in our conversations with each other as we work to build a better world for our kids? After all, isn't the forum of our discussion part of the better world we all agree we need to create?

Be nice to each other; let the trolls keep coming at me, I can take it, but let's not stoop to their level in our response. Donate, knock doors, make calls, that's how we fight back, by WINNING where it counts at the ballot box.

Remember this e-mail from last week? If not, you can read it here. It helped us get all kinds of good press on why we need to fight so hard for fair maps in 2020. Press story here.

If you want to help me fight against gerrymandered maps in Florida, retake the legislature, and WIN elections for the next decade... I need you to donate using the links below:
