Four years ago this week, nearly 200 nations around the world set politics, selfishness, and conflict aside and came to an agreement: everyone would commit to doing what is necessary to prevent global warming of two degrees Celsius, the point of irreversible change. It was a historic agreement based in scientific fact.

But now, Donald Trump has taken steps to pull the U.S. out of that agreement, abandoning our position of international leadership. It doesn't matter what side of the political aisle you are on, climate change is impacting all of us right now and the window for us to do something to mitigate it is closing fast. The eyes of the world are watching.

That's why I'm asking you to join me today in renewing our commitment to overturn Donald Trump's decision to withdraw the United States from the Paris climate agreement. Please add your name to our petition.

I can't tell you how many different mothers, fathers, students, seniors, and activists have spoken to me about our rapidly warming planet. Just here in the Northwest, we are seeing our sea levels rise, our oceans become more acidic, and outbreaks of tree diseases.

And climate change doesn't just impact our environment and the home we love -- it's endangering our local economy and could potentially cost us hundreds and thousands of jobs.

That's why in addition to calling on this president to reverse his terrible decision, I’m taking action in Congress. We can and must do more to combat this growing and urgent threat, which is why I was proud to co-sponsor the Climate Action Now Act that requires the president to develop and update a plan annually for the U.S. to meet its nationally determined contribution under the Paris Agreement.

Look, we are not helpless. As one of the greatest nations on earth, we have the tools necessary to combat climate change and create countless new jobs in the process. But first, we need to stop Donald Trump from removing the U.S. from the Paris climate accord. Add your name today.
