Dear John:

Washington was in a sprint to the finish heading out of July. Democrats worked hard to push their priorities through legislation. Unfortunately, none of these priorities are in line with the needs of the American people. I had to remind them of this on the Floor last week when, rather than debating bills on tackling the record inflation, securing our borders, or putting a stop to the violent crime across the country, they had us debating a bill based on the priorities of a reality TV show. I am disappointed, but not shocked, the Democrats are so out of touch with the needs of the people they represent.

I recently sat down with Tony St. James from AgriBusiness Report. We had a great conversation about Minnesota's 7th District, the upcoming Farm Bill, and what I hope the Agriculture Committee will be able to accomplish. You can watch the full interview here.

When I met with the Minnesota Turkey Federation, we discussed HPAI and the impact it has had on the turkey industry in Minnesota. It was great having such a big group out to D.C.!

Democrats Are Trying to Strip Your 2nd Amendment Rights

Democrats want to strip 2nd Amendment rights away from citizens, this time, through their Assault Weapons Ban. This is an unconstitutional attempt to ban the sale of some of the most popular firearms used in our country. You can watch my statement at the House GOP press conference here.

During the markup of this bill in the Judiciary Committee, I introduced an amendment to exempt stabilizers from their ban. Stabilizers are used to help our disabled sportsmen hunt safely with a pistol. My colleague on the Left seemed to think that somehow this device turns a gun into a bump stock. They don't even know what they're trying to ban!
