Dear Friends,
Since taking office, this President has brought hardworking Americans higher taxes, higher prices, and lower paychecks. Now, his weak leadership and radical big-government policies have officially brought the U.S. economy into a recession, defined as two consecutive quarters of negative growth, measured by gross domestic product (GDP). With GDP falling 1.6% in the first quarter of 2022 and with last week’s report by the Bureau of Economic Analysis (BEA) showing the U.S. economy shrank 0.9% during the second quarter of 2022, our country has formally entered a recession.
Congressional Democrats and Joe Biden own this economic decline. Their policies overstimulated our economy, and Americans continue to feel the pinch as a result. Instead of reversing course away from these failed policies that caused this recession in the first place, they're doubling down and trying to ram through another massive tax and spend plan which will result in higher prices for consumers and only exacerbate the economic crisis. The Democrats’ solution is to increase taxes on every single income bracket, grow the government with more programs and handouts, and ignore the real harm their Left-wing policies are causing.
The “Inflation and Recession” Reconciliation bill, which was released last week, proposes many initiatives that are bad for America. This bill raises taxes through a "Made-in-America" tax increase, the cost of which will land on American families, manufacturers, energy producers, medical innovators, and job creators already suffering under 40-year high inflation. Although the Democrats claim this package only targets “large corporations” with tax increases, the burden will ultimately be carried by working families through higher prices, fewer jobs, and lower wages. This bill is also the latest step in the Democrat's war on domestic energy, with provisions that add billions in taxes on American-made oil and gas, increased red tape, and new fees and royalties for domestic energy production.
Looking further into this legislation, the Democrats are again attempting to revive their innovation-killing drug pricing controls, which will result in fewer new cures and treatments for patients, as well as longer wait times for life-saving medicines. Simply put, a socialist drug pricing scheme will have terrible long-term consequences for Americans’ health. To make matters worse, their big government proposal allows the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) to hire 87,000 new agents to target the private banking information of our citizens. As a result, IRS audits will rise for all individuals by more than 1.2 million per year with nearly half of that increase targeting Americans making $75,000 per year or less. Rest assured, I will continue to fight back against these radical policies.

Border Security is National Security |
Last Wednesday, I joined American Agenda to discuss my recent trip to Eagle Pass, Texas. This administration's reckless open border policies have incentivized the surge across our southern border, which has culminated in over half a million illegal immigrants evading apprehension by Border Patrol since last October.

Standing for Law-Abiding Citizens 2A Rights |
Last Friday, House Democrats passed H.R. 1808, the Assault Weapons Ban of 2021. I strongly opposed this bill and as the radical-Left continues to try and chip away at law-abiding citizens’ Constitutional right to bear arms, I will always stand against any attempt to erode the rights of American citizens who abide faithfully by the law.
