Friends – over the weekend, I couldn’t help but think about what Republicans in Congress are doing to American veterans that were exposed to burn pits.
I think Jon Stewart said it best:
“I’m used to the hypocrisy, I’m used to the cowardice, I’m used to all of it. But I am not used to the cruelty.”
Playing politics with veterans’ healthcare? That’s just something I’ll never understand.
And don’t believe the Republican Party when they’re doing PR, either. They supported this bill until the major policies of the Inflation Reduction Act were revealed – climate investment, lower prescription drug costs, and making corporations pay their fair share.
So instead of supporting policies that are good for the American people, Republicans are retaliating by throwing veterans under the bus. That's not right, and it tells us that the loyalties of some members of the GOP do not lie with their communities or their constituents.
My community and my constituents will always come first.
