Week-in-Review

Dear Mr. xxxxxx,

As I return to Texas after another busy week in D.C., I wanted to pass along my latest update on what I have been doing to fight for you, Texas’ 21st Congressional district, and our country as a whole:

Defending the Second Amendment:

On Friday, I spoke on the House floor twice to raise the alarm on the radical gun control agenda Democrats continue to advance. It defies all logic that the radical left is focused on disarming the American people, while leaving them defenseless from the armed cartels terrorizing our Southern border and from the rising crime in Democrat-run cities across our nation.

Securing the border:

Early last week, I spoke at the America First Agenda Summit’s border security panel to lay out how we can turn back the invasion at our southern border. I have a plan to stop this crisis. We need to build the wall and navigable roads for Border Patrol, require DHS and ICE to enforce our border security laws, and designate cartels as the terrorist organizations they are.

Watch my America First Agenda Summit speech here.

Introducing two new bills:

My Let Experienced Pilots Fly Act would raise the mandatory pilot retirement age from 65 to 67 to ease the ongoing pilot shortage. Americans are now experiencing flight delays and cancellations on an unacceptable scale due to a worsening pilot shortage. My bill would alleviate this crisis.

My Public Service Reform Act would make all federal bureaucrats at-will employees — just like private sector workers — and claw back the inordinate protections some federal employees grossly abuse while helping legitimate whistleblowers and victims of discrimination get the justice they deserve. On average, it takes federal agencies six months to one year to fire an underperforming employee — my bill would streamline this process.

The border crisis comes to the Swamp:

On Thursday, I joined Tucker Carlson on Fox News to discuss DC Mayor Bowser hypocritically complaining about Texas bussing migrants to DC, while ignoring the cartel-driven invasion at our border.

The full clip of my Tucker Carlson interview is available here.

Here are some news stories about what I’ve been up to lately: Scam Advisory

Far too many residents of TX-21 have been victimized by financial scams. Below are a few tips and resources to assist you in identifying and avoiding financial scams:
  • Be wary about sharing your social security number, bank account, or credit card information online or over the phone, and avoid clicking links in emails or text messages from unfamiliar sources. Consult a trusted friend, family member, or financial adviser before taking any action.
  • The Internal Revenue Service is warning of several popular scams targeting taxpayers, particularly the elderly. Details of these scams and resources to protect yourself can be found here.
  • If you or someone you know has been a victim of elder fraud, help is standing by at the National Elder Fraud Hotline. You can contact them at 833–372–8311.
  • If you have received a scam phone call, email, or message, you may report it to the Federal Trade Commission online or by calling 877–FTC–HELP (877–382–4357).

Passport Advisory

When making plans to travel over the summer, please remember to check your passport expiry date. The U.S. government recommends renewing passports approximately nine months before they expire, as certain countries require passports to remain valid for up to six months after travel. Instructions for passport renewals can be found here.

Texas Travel Industry Recovery Grant Program

Governor Greg Abbott recently announced the opening of the Texas Travel Industry Recovery Grant Program. This program will provide grants to Texas businesses that have been negatively impacted during the COVID-19 pandemic, including the travel, tourism, and hospitality industry.
