A Month in Review: July Congressional Update

Congress has been in session for three weeks this month, hard at work legislating and advocating on your behalf. From lowering the costs of living for families to advancing gun safety reform legislation, Democrats have your back.

APPROPRIATIONS

On July 20, I voted for H.R. 8294, the Fiscal Year 2023 Six-Bill Appropriations Minibus.

The package makes a $563 billion investment in communities across the U.S. I championed twelve amendments and eleven Community Project Funding Requests.

I was honored to join Monsignor Bañuelas, members of the St. Pius X community, and fellow El Pasoans for the celebration of his last Mass.

Having spoken and listened to many constituents about his important role in our community, I'm profoundly grateful to Father Arturo for his guidance, leadership, and most of all, his friendship.

During #LatinoConservationWeek, it was my privilege to welcome fellow advocates of Castner Range at the Capitol. In addition to a roundtable with the Undersecretary of the Army, Department of the Interior, and White House Council on Environmental Quality, we held a reception to talk about our progress.

Sharing our combined efforts to designate Castner Range as a national monument makes me confident we'll soon accomplish this goal.

On July 23, my office was invited by Moms on Board for their back-to-school community event.

We had lots of fun handing out free books from the Library of Congress to children and talking about the many constituent services we offer in our office!
