With only a few days left in 2019, Congress CAN pass tax legislation that helps to address the climate crisis. To make it happen, we need to get 10,000 messages from LCV supporters into Congress to support climate action before the end the year »
I'm feeling hopeful, friend.
I just talked to LCV's team of clean energy policy experts and they think we have a real shot at passing a package of pro-climate tax legislation to strengthen our clean energy economy. The Growing Renewable Energy and Efficiency Now (GREEN) Act contains these provisions; it would use the tax code to spur innovation in energy storage and offshore wind, as well as further deployment of wind and solar production, energy efficient buildings, and electric vehicles.
Using the tax code to promote clean energy is one of the best opportunities Congress currently has to help address the climate crisis, and that's why our pro-environment champions are working to make sure this bill passes before the end of the year.
From California to New Hampshire to Alaska, our communities are already experiencing the devastating impacts of climate change. Even worse,
these impacts are hitting lower-wealth communities and communities of color hardest, exacerbating racial and economic inequities. It's critical that we accelerate action to transform our economy and build a more sustainable, healthier future for all.
If we flood Congressional inboxes with messages, we can show them just how important it is to invest in our clean energy economy today. Will you join LCV supporters across the country and urge Congress to extend and update critical clean energy and electric vehicle tax credits now?

Progress toward a clean energy future is already happening at the state and local levels all across this country — that's why LCV and our state affiliates started Clean Energy For All, a campaign to equitably transition our economy to 100% clean energy by 2050. Our clean energy transformation must advance climate justice and ensure that those most impacted by climate change — especially communities of color and low-wealth communities — are at the center of developing solutions.
To build upon the incredible work that our state partners are helping to lead, it's critical that we pass bold legislation at the federal level to further limit the use of dirty fossil fuels. We need to take every step possible to support clean energy, including tax incentives that make it easier to pursue renewable energy solutions, like wind, solar, energy storage and efficiency, and electric vehicles. These tax incentives will support and expand action already being taken at the local level by cities and businesses across the country to limit carbon pollution that contributes to climate change.
Provisions in the GREEN Act have bipartisan support in both chambers of Congress and there's real momentum to pass a tax package before Congress leaves for the year on December 20th.
What we do next will have major implications for our health and planet.
With just days left in the Congressional session, will you join a movement of dedicated advocates who are committed to advancing a just economic transition to clean energy for all and send a message to your members of Congress?
