What a difference a week makes! We are now the closest we’ve EVER been to passing federal climate legislation. 

I’m finally feeling some hope. We have a chance - right now - to protect our children and grandchildren’s future. 

Independent researchers have analyzed this legislation, and they say it could drive emissions down by 40% by 2030 - making it possible to reach 50% through administrative and state and local actions. That means that we have a shot to avoid the worst climate change predictions - predictions we are already feeling with scorching heat waves, deadly storms, and dangerous and expensive flooding. 

If this bill is going to get passed, we need to hold every Democratic member of the Pennsylvania congressional delegation and get them to put pressure on their colleagues. Friend, if you're in a position to give, please renew your membership to help ensure we have the resources to fight hard now while also moving full speed ahead on our state priorities.  

By coming together, we can pass this historic cost-saving legislation that will make overdue investments in clean energy, improve energy security, and build a more affordable, healthy, just, and equitable future.

You might have heard that Majority Leader Schumer and Senator Manchin announced a surprise agreement on a deal for a climate, clean energy, and environmental justice bill that is putting us on a path to reduce carbon emissions by close to 40 percent by 2030.

We’re about to face the most important environmental vote in a generation. And we got this far all because of your activism and support.

This bill needs every single Democratic senator and there’s nearly zero wiggle room in the House. If oil and gas lobbyists pick off even one vote, the bill will go down. We're putting out a call to all Conservation Voters of PA members:

We are still going through the details of the bill -- but it includes long-term, robust support for clean electricity, tailpipe pollution-free electric vehicles, domestic clean energy manufacturing, and environmental justice communities, with particular support for working families and communities impacted by the shift away from fossil fuels.

Because of the support of our members, Conservation Voters of PA has talked to thousands of supporters about taking action on climate, held dozens of events with members of Congress and local officials, and run ads in key districts to make climate the center of this bill and push it forward.

We have to keep this going until the vote -- but the truth is we are not on track to hit our fundraising goals for this quarter. If we come up short, it could mean scaling back our campaigns at a moment when the environmental movement has to show up in a big way. 

The best thing you can do to support our campaigns is to become a member  — all it takes is a gift of $5 or more to help power our work today. 

We have a real shot at winning this vote, . But we cannot go toe-to-toe with corporate polluters and their lobbyists without the support of our members. This critical work depends on contributions from people like you. 

Together, we have the power to stand up to Big Oil’s army of lobbyists. We have the power to hold our leaders accountable to protect our communities and finally address climate change. We have the power to achieve a clean energy future and create a more sustainable world. 

But we can only achieve this by continuing to stand together, . I’m thankful to have you in our corner in this fight.
