Celebrating Sheriff Grady Judd’s 50 Years of Service
Representative Scott Franklin (FL-15) celebrates Sheriff Grady Judd on the House Floor
Polk County has been blessed with a half century of strong law enforcement leadership from America’s Sheriff, Grady Judd. Last week, I spoke on the House Floor to congratulate Sheriff Judd on his fifty years of service with the Polk County Sheriff's Office. Grady joined the department in 1972 at the age of 18 and has served as Sheriff since 2004. His strong commitment to the rule of law earned him the "Sheriff of the Year" award by the Major County Sheriffs of America. Thank you, Sheriff, for keeping our community safe and setting an incredible example for others in public service.
In the News
- Franklin condemns Biden administration actions to decrease government transparency: "Sue and Settle" is when federal agencies like the Interior Department (DOI) or the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) allow special interest groups to achieve regulatory goals through litigation – in secret – and bypass the legislative and regulatory process. President Trump issued executive orders to end these practices. Sadly, President Biden recently rescinded these orders. Floridians understand transparency is needed for public awareness. That’s why I joined 35 of my GOP colleagues to demand all documents related to this damaging decision. Click here to read the DOI letter and here to read the EPA letter.
- Franklin and colleagues probe the Biden plan to provide illegal immigrants with I.D. cards: In the middle of a staggering self-inflicted border crisis, the Biden administration is looking to provide illegal immigrants with identification cards. This presents national security concerns and rewards illegal immigrants for breaking our laws. That's why I joined my House Oversight GOP colleagues to request a briefing from acting ICE Director Tae Johnson for more information on this ill-conceived plan. Click here to read the full letter.
