When I met my husband Stan, he was a widower with five daughters. We got married, and I raised his beautiful girls as if they were my own. But I’ll tell you what: the chaos of raising five girls while working full time didn’t exactly prepare me to govern during turbulent times – but it helped!
I learned to listen and work together because no one has a monopoly on good ideas or solutions - in a family or in a state. And that’s how I’ve governed for the last three years. We’ve brought Democrats, Republicans, and Independents together to move Maine forward, and that’s how we keep making progress for Maine people.
