Here are some updates from the last few days you may have missed. Wednesday Hearing on Electoral Count Act Reform -
On July 20, U.S. Sens. Susan Collins (R-Maine) and Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.) introduced S. 4573, the long-awaited proposal to reform the antiquated Electoral Count Act (ECA). The Senate Rules Committee will hold a hearing on the need to reform this law on Wednesday, Aug. 3 at 10:30 a.m. ET.

New Jersey Enacts Multiple New Election Laws - On Thursday, New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy (D) signed a package of seven election bills into law. While the bills make several welcome changes to New Jersey elections, they represent mostly tweaks of existing laws rather than sweeping changes.

- Thanks to the new laws, election officials will be able to count mail-in ballots before Election Day and voters will be able to request ballots via an online portal. One provision that wasn’t included? Same-day registration, which faced opposition from the state Senate President. Find out more here.
Nevada Voter ID Ballot Initiative Blocked From 2022 Ballot -
On Friday, a Nevada state court blocked a conservative group’s ballot initiative from appearing on the ballot this fall. The proposal would have created a photo ID requirement for in-person voting. Find out about the ruling here.
USPS Announces New Election Division To Handle Mail-in Ballots -
On Thursday, the United States Postal Service announced a new division to handle election mail and effectively deliver mail-in ballots in advance of the midterm elections this November. The division will help the service better respond to issues with election mail. Read more here.
