Dear John xxxxxx,
Thanks to the tireless efforts from gun safety advocates and gun violence survivors, the House of Representatives has finally passed the Assault Weapons Ban of 2022. Researchers estimate there would be 70% fewer mass shooting deaths with a federal Assault Weapons Ban. Guns are the problem, period.
Furthermore, last week, the CHIPS and Science Act passed the House of Representatives and the Senate. The bill is now on its way to President Biden's desk to be signed into law. This crucial bill will make needed investments in semiconductor manufacturing in America and will ensure the U.S. continues to lead in semiconductor research and creation.
I was also proud to celebrate 32 years of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), a landmark law that moved the needle towards a more inclusive and accessible society. The ADA has provided hope and opportunity for millions of individuals with disabilities, but there is more work to done. My bill, the Eleanor Smith Inclusive Home Design Act will make homes built with federal dollars more accessible.
If you need any assistance with a federal agency, whether it be a social security problem, an immigration case, or a postal issue, just to name a few, my office is here to help. Head to my website for further assistance and information.
Happy first day of Health Care Awareness Month! I hope you enjoy the rest of your week.
Sincerely,
Jan's Plans & Pans - August 1, 2022
