Call for projects - now thru Sept. 15
Seeking projects to promote compatible land use development near military installations?
The Washington State Department of Commerce is soliciting applications now through Sept. 15 for the purpose of developing a prioritized list of projects that promote civilian-military compatibility projects. The Legislature will consider funding projects that impact the economy, environment or quality of life for communities near military installations throughout Washington state.
Eligible Applicants
- Local governments
- Federally-recognized Tribes
- Entities in an agreement with a military installation under the U.S. Department of Defense Readiness and Environmental Protection Integration program
Project Priorities
Applications will be considered for projects that focus on:
- Eliminating an existing incompatible use through property acquisition.
- Assisting in the recovery and protection of endangered species.
- Increasing the availability of affordable housing.
- Retrofitting existing uses to increase their compatibility.
- Diversifying the local economy to reduce economic dependence.
- Replacing jobs lost due to a reduction in military presence.
- Improving or enhancing the local economy, environment or quality of life impacted by the presence of military activities.
