Political Update
Dear A.,
For most of history, Jewish independence was a distant dream and an unfulfilled promise.
Today, that dream is a reality.
Israel has emerged as a vibrant, democratic nation and an indispensable U.S. ally. But those of us who care about Israel's future know we must never take its security for granted.
AIPAC has been the constant force in Washington working to build bipartisan support in Congress for the U.S.-Israel relationship. Together, we've lobbied Congress to enact $3.8 billion in security assistance and missile defense cooperation each year, to push back on Iran's nuclear weapons quest, and to advance Israel's pursuit of peace with its Arab neighbors.
These outcomes don’t happen without strong relationships with pro-Israel members of Congress on both sides of the aisle.
Over the past seven months, we've implemented a new political strategy to both strengthen our pro-Israel friends in Washington and defeat candidates who seek to undermine the U.S.-Israel alliance.
No election highlights this vital work more than the one taking place tomorrow in Michigan.
We are strongly supporting pro-Israel progressive Democrat Haley Stevens in her re-election bid against Andy Levin, who is backed by Bernie Sanders, Rashida Tlaib and J Street.
A win by Congresswoman Stevens would help advance the U.S.-Israel relationship. She supports full security assistance to Israel and opposes new political conditions on that lifesaving aid. She supports Israel's quest for peace and fights against the BDS campaign. She is a proven champion with a consistent pro-Israel track record.
Together, we are exercising our rights to participate in the political process and fight for our beliefs. We will not relent or be deterred in our enduring fight to keep Israel safe, strong and secure, and advance America's interests and security.
I look forward to updating you about the results of tomorrow's election.
