Dear John,
It’s important to me to keep my supporters updated on what I work on, because my job is to be a public servant. Here’s what I’ve been doing recently:
1. I hosted a roundtable discussion at the National Infantry Museum with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs Secretary Denis McDonough. This was a valuable opportunity for us to hear from local veterans and leaders about VA care and how we can work to improve it.
2. I toured the Turner Job Corps Center with the U.S. Department of Labor Secretary Marty Walsh. The Turner Jobs Corps Center is serving our community by providing training and educational opportunities to constituents here in Albany.
3. I introduced H.R. 8432, the Beagle Brigade Act of 2022 in the U.S. House. This legislation will help protect agriculture from foreign pests and diseases by permanently establishing the National Detector Dog Training Center. This center trains dogs and handlers to detect prohibited agricultural items to keep foreign pests and diseases out of the country.
4. I supported the Creating Helpful Incentives to Produce Semiconductors (CHIPS) and Science Act. The CHIPS Act will improve our supply chain, create new jobs for Americans, support increased domestic manufacturing, and strengthen our national cybersecurity defenses.
5. I voted for legislation to prevent the sale, manufacture, transfer, or possession of semi-automatic assault weapons. Semi-automatic weapons have no place on our streets, and have been used far too many times in mass shootings that leave families and communities devastated and put our police and children at risk.
Thank you for taking the time to read this update. If you are interested in holding on to our U.S. House majority, please consider making a contribution of any amount to my re-election campaign.
