John,

I never thought I would need to write legislation to codify the constitutional right for access to safe and legal abortion care in 2022 – but here we are.

Extremist attempts to restrict access to safe and legal abortion aren’t about choice – they’re about control.

I am here to tell you that American women will not be controlled. Black women, indigenous women, LGBTQ+ women, poor women, women with disabilities will not be controlled and forced to give birth.

I know this fight is exhausting – but we cannot give up. We must stick together to protect reproductive freedom in this country.

Will you take a minute and share your thoughts with me on this by replying to this email? [[email protected]?subject=Reproductive Rights]

I haven’t heard anyone address the fact that the United States has the highest maternal mortality rate of any high resource country.

Black women are 3 times more likely than their white counterparts to die in childbirth in America – and this rate is expected to rise as much as 30% in states that have lost access to safe and legal abortion.

We cannot force women to give birth.

As long as I am in Congress, I will continue to voice your concerns about this injustice. Please, take a moment and tell me exactly how you feel about the state of reproductive rights in America by replying directly to this email. [[email protected]?subject=Reproductive Rights]
