Dear John,

Welcome to the (day late, but never too short!) July edition of the #BadFaithMedicine Breakdown. In it we chronicle everything we have been doing to call out the #BadFaithMedicine of anti-abortion fake clinics and the broader anti-abortion movement.

New on the Blog:

North Carolinians Will Not Keep Quiet, by Tenaja Henson
“Here in North Carolina, myself and local advocates with help from our friends at Shout Your Abortion dropped a banner over Interstate 40 in Greensboro during rush hour that read, “NC WILL AID AND ABET ABORTION”!”

Greensboro Anti-Abortion Fake Clinic is Deceiving Us. We’re Exposing Them., by Tenaja Henson
“Greensboro is getting real about these anti-abortion fake clinics in our midst. They do not support us, but instead exacerbate a dangerous public health crisis.”

Beware of Fraudulent ‘Reproductive Justice’ Groups and Organizations by, Evonnia Woods
“… everyone must practice diligence when determining whether their involvement with a group or organization will hurt the reproductive justice movement and the people relying on it.”

Three Ways to Center Disability Justice in Your Activism by, Caitlin Blunnie
“The reproductive rights and broader progressive movements have long fallen short in acknowledging the lived experiences and needs of people with disabilities.”

“Abortion Pill Reversal” Has No Place in Medical Training by, Annie Romano
“The anti-abortion fake clinic network Heartbeat International is – despite their track record of deceptive, wrong, and harmful health care messaging – a California Board of Nursing-approved continuing education provider.”

Recent Actions:

#BadFaithMedicine Tweet Storm

On July 15, activists and organizations took to Twitter under the hashtag #BadFaithMedicine to call out how anti-abortion fake clinics are absolutely NOT the answer to devastating post-Roe gaps in health care access.

[Alt Text: Screenshot of a tweet from The Doula Project reading “No one should be tricked, shamed, or misled when they are considering pregnancy options. Fake clinics exist to do just that. It’s harmful wrong and dangerous, especially for people who already face medical racism and barriers to safe and accessible healthcare. #BadFaithMedicine” that was tweeted during Reproaction’s tweet storm]

More Local Flyer-ing!

Local activists took to the streets of Greensboro NC, AGAIN! TWICE! Putting up flyers in the neighborhoods near the local anti-abortion fake clinic, exposing them to passsers-by and community members, and sharing resources from Reproaction, Pro-choice North Carolina, and directing folks to Carolina Abortion Fund!

If you want to equip yourself with the knowledge to stay safe from fake clinics check out our anti-abortion fake clinic database, and if your are interested in how you can take action against them in your community, check out the Reali-Tea of Anti-Abortion Fake Clinics and ‘Abortion Pill Reversal”.
