Hi Friend,

My first three months as your Finance Director for the Texas Democratic Party have been a whirlwind. We’ve been working hard to fund our 2022 Convention, Vote by Mail Program, Coordinated Campaign, and all the other important work we do here at the party. I’m Koby Ahmed, and I’m so excited to finally introduce myself!

Friend, my journey to politics didn’t really happen by choice. While in college, my mom got really sick, so I left school for over a year to manage her care. During that time, I witnessed firsthand just how broken our healthcare system truly is. I joined this fight -- this movement -- because I don’t want anyone else to face the obstacles my mom had to overcome. We all deserve better.

Since then I’ve worked with candidates and elected officials across the state and the country to help them build grassroots movements and meet people where they are. In 2020, I worked for 5 different statewide and national campaigns, organizing events as big as rallies for 4,000 people and as small as meet and greets in an ice cream shop.

After being in Iowa, Colorado, Montana, and Georgia, I couldn’t be prouder to bring this fight back to my home state -- back to Texas. Friend, we’re raising the resources so that our Party can be the infrastructure behind all of the progressive work in Texas. I’ve seen the numbers, and the momentum we’re building is undeniable.

We’ve already accomplished so much, but the work isn’t over. If we’re going to elect leaders this November who will fight to improve the lives of people like my mom -- people like us -- we can’t let up now. Will you chip in $7 today to turn the tides in Texas this November?

Between all of the late nights and early mornings, the thing that has always kept me in this fight are the people. The people I met on the campaign trail doing the hard work organizing in their communities. The people who wait hours or join a crowd of thousands for the chance to shake hands with a candidate they believe in. The people right here in Texas who continue this noble work despite the odds.

It’s easy to feel alone in this fight. But when I think of all those people who have inspired me along the way, I know we’re in this together.
