Governor DeSantis
Announces Protections From the Threats of ESG
Governor
DeSantis announced a series of protections for Floridians from the
environmental, social and corporate governance (ESG) movement that
threatens the vitality of the American economy and Americans’ economic
freedom by targeting disfavored individuals and industries to advance
a woke ideological agenda.
“The
leveraging of corporate power to impose an ideological agenda on
society represents an alarming trend,” Governor DeSantis said. “From
Wall Street banks to massive asset managers and big tech companies, we
have seen the corporate elite use their economic power to impose
policies on the country that they could not achieve at the ballot
box.”
Governor
DeSantis’ proposed legislation for the 2023 Legislative Session
will:
- Prohibit
big banks, credit card companies and money transmitters from
discriminating against customers for their religious, political or
social beliefs;
- Prohibit
State Board of Administration (SBA) fund managers from considering ESG
factors when investing the state’s money;
- Require
SBA fund managers to only consider maximizing the return on investment
on behalf of Florida’s retirees.

Florida School Grades Far Exceed
Expectations
New data
shows Florida’s schools performed much better than expected due to
Governor DeSantis’ policies that kept schools open and students in the
classroom
The Florida
Department of Education recently released school grades for 2021-2022,
which mark the first full data release since 2019 due to the lack of
assessments the previous two years.
Key
highlights from the report include:
- 53 schools
exited the School Improvement Support list in 2022.
- 100% of
schools graded F in 2019 improved their grades in 2022, including one
that earned a B and six that earned a C.
- 84% of
schools graded D and F in 2019 improved their grades in
2022.
- Overall,
elementary schools had the largest increase in the percentage of
schools increasing their grade with 20% (351) of elementary schools
improving one or more letter grade.
- 469
schools increased their grade, while 825 schools maintained an A grade
and 348 schools maintained a B grade.

Governor DeSantis
Awards $6.5 Million to Launch Civics Academies
Governor
DeSantis awarded Polk State College, Broward College and Florida State
College at Jacksonville $6.5 million to launch the Career Pathways for
Public Service Initiative, which will develop a national model for
preparing students for public service and careers in local or state
government.
The Civics
Academies will allow students to start learning in 9th grade about the
importance of public trust, government efficiency and the values of
our state and nation. This announcement is part of Governor DeSantis’
larger Civic Literacy Excellence Initiative to develop civics
curriculum.
“It was
great to award $6.5 million to create civics academies through three
of our nation-leading state colleges,” Governor DeSantis said. “This
first-of-its-kind program will teach our future leaders foundational
American values as they prepare for careers in public
service.”

Florida’s Unemployment
Rate Drops to 2.8%, Despite National Conditions
Governor
DeSantis announced that Florida’s June unemployment rate dropped to
2.8 percent, despite national economic headwinds. Florida’s
unemployment rate now has declined or held steady for 23 consecutive
months through June 2022 — far better than the national unemployment
rate that remains unchanged over the month at 3.6 percent.
Meanwhile,
Florida’s labor force grew by 0.4 percent over the month, while the
national labor force shrank by 0.2 percent. Since January, Florida’s
labor force grew by 2.8 percent, outpacing the national rate of 1.8
percent by a full percentage point.
“Despite
Biden administration policies that have produced record inflation,
skyrocketing gas prices, and slowing national GDP, Florida continues
to outpace the nation with strong job growth and an increasing labor
force,” Governor DeSantis said.

Marco Rubio:
Abortion decision exposes how woke corporations are
hostile to American families
Senator
Rubio wrote a guest column on Fox News this week highlighting the
threat of woke corporations for American families:
Being a mom or dad is the most important job
any of us will ever have. Parents are the first teachers, first
authorities, and first clergy. What we do has a direct impact on the
lives of our children, but also on our communities and ultimately our
nation. It has been true for all of recorded history. "Train up a
child in the way he should go," Proverbs implores.
But what happens when a mom or dad’s first
obligation is no longer to their family, but to their employer?

Marco Rubio Speaks
at Sarasota and Manatee County GOP Rally
'This is still
the single greatest nation in the history of all
mankind'
Senator
Rubio spoke to more than 1,000 people at a combined Sarasota and
Manatee County GOP candidates rally, telling them what is at stake in
November and the importance of electing Republicans up and down the
ballot.
“This is
still – despite our challenges, despite our problems, despite the
terrible leadership we see in high positions – this is still the
single greatest nation in the history of all mankind,” Rubio
said.
"I think
every single one of you knows someone who has never voted for a
Republican in their lives, but they're going to now. Not because they
agree with us on every issue...but because we agree on what we can
agree on, and what we can agree on is common sense," Rubio continued.
"The choice in American politics today is no longer simply left and
right, or Republican or Democrat...the choice is between common sense
and complete and utter lunacy."
