POLLSTER BILL SHAPARD
The Cause of the American
Political Shift
OCPAC
|
|
Bill Shapard has been asking Oklahoma’s voters their political opinions for the past 26 years. Since 2006, his polling company, Shapard Research, has conducted more public opinion polls for Oklahoma news media than all other pollsters combined.
Bill’s expertise has brought him to the university classroom where he has lectured on a wide variety of polling techniques. Oklahoma’s television stations also access his talent and expertise as their expert on-air commentator.
This Wednesday, he will be the highlight at OCPAC’s noon luncheon. He will present his most recent and very well-received presentation addressing the cultural shift in America.
|
|
Don Spencer will speak briefly on the perspective of OK2A on the August 23 runoff elections state-wide.
He will provide guidance
for the August 23 runoff.

BOB LINN
Tyranny of the Wokerati
|
Bill Shapard, our speaker this Wednesday, will be using insights harvested from 26 years of penetrating the minds of Oklahomans to connect the cultural changes to what we can expect at the voting booths throughout the state in August and November.
Dr. Carl Trueman has amassed a lifetime of study in an effort to explain why so many have come to the bizarre views which would have been thought insane not long ago.
Two years ago, he published perhaps the most important book of the 21st century. The Rise and Triumph of the Modern Self traces the history of thought over the past 300 years and the ideas that have brought us to the ridiculous 21st century concepts of selfhood.
|
He helps us understand today's commandants of culture that Roger Kimball, conservative publisher of the New Criterion, calls the wokerati. For Kimball, it is the wokerati who are now dictating America’s pretentious but bankrupt educational policies which are baptizing our youth in a cesspool of cultural contamination. See his comments here.
Trueman begins by establishing his purpose in writing the book. He writes in his introduction:
The origins of this book lie in my curiosity about how and why a particular statement has come to be regarded as either coherent or meaningful:
"I am a woman trapped in a man’s body.” … My grandfather … would have burst out laughing at this incoherent gibberish.
|
Trueman argues that cultural gibberish is ubiquitous in this 21st century thanks to Nietzsche, Marx, and Darwin who drained the anthropological foundations of mankind’s eternal purpose so well established by Western Civilization. Darwin lent a scientific though vacuous aura to the atheism of Marx and Nietzsche.
Our educational system from elementary school to the university affirm Darwin’s “scientific” foundations of aimless atheism to the further detriment of our cultural moorings. I’m saving my comments on this for the end!
Most revealing in Trueman’s analysis is the role neurologist Sigmund Freud and others have played in the modern concept that mankind’s ultimate identity is sexual and that mere tolerance to one’s sexual identity is unacceptable. Hence, the demand that society as a whole fully recognize the dignity of any and all sexual identities and particular communities and why certain bakeries have been sued for non-participation in bizarre and contrived weddings.

All of this is why tenured Professor Amy Wax of the University of Pennsylvania learned a few weeks ago that she is subject to disciplinary action by the university’s Law School. The Penn Law School Dean, Theodore Ruger, wrote in his June 23, 2022 twelve-page call for sanctions against Professor Wax:
I am initiating this disciplinary action because for several years and in multiple instances Wax has shown a callous and flagrant disregard for our University community—including students, faculty, and staff—who have been repeatedly subjected to Wax’s intentional and incessant racist, sexist, xenophobic, and homophobic actions and statements.
The following paragraph from her 2017 article in the Inquirer explains why Dean Ruger and the University of Pennsylvania wokerati are so upset:
All cultures are not equal. Or at least they are not equal in preparing people to be productive in an advanced economy. The culture of the Plains Indians was designed for nomadic hunters, but is not suited to a First World, 21st-century environment. Nor are the single-parent, antisocial habits, prevalent among some working-class whites; the anti-"acting white" rap culture of inner-city blacks; the anti-assimilation ideas gaining ground among some Hispanic immigrants. These cultural orientations are not only incompatible with what an advanced free-market economy and a viable democracy require, they are also destructive of a sense of solidarity and reciprocity among Americans. If the bourgeois cultural script — which the upper-middle class still largely observes but now hesitates to preach — cannot be widely reinstated, things are likely to get worse for us all.
Find Professor Amy Wax's entire article here.
|
From this we should glean a great deal of encouragement. Amy Wax is only one of a number of university professors standing against the politics of wokism. In spite of the fact that we are in the midst of a cultural collapse that Michael Walsh, outspoken critic of the current woke culture and author of The Devil’s Pleasure Palace, calls satanic in origin, we have just witnessed some bright lights. Lights in our universities and in the ranks of the American journalistic elite I have referenced today.
|
About that “science” of Darwin, we may also be quite encouraged that at the core of the Scientific Revolution were men who considered the cosmos a 6,000-year-old creation not Darwin’s eternity of evolution.
Many of today’s leading scientists are in agreement that the cosmos is the recent creation of God.
Find here a few of the many men of science who don’t buy a speck of what Darwin was selling.
Their voices are silenced today by the academic thought police.

And, let’s not forget that God has raised up equally bright lights in Hollywood as well. If you missed it, here is our recent article on actors Kevin and “Sam” Sorbo.

We must take some council from the closing comments of Trueman’s magnum opus. He reminds us that to simply lament over the pornification of culture and the rampant fragmentation and crass worldliness of the church is another form of worldliness.
Carl Trueman’s book points out that the church has often failed to stand firm on its foundational tenets and instead has allowed ...
the penetration of the anticulture into the sanctuary of historic Christianity. Christians today are not opponents of the anticulture. Too often we are a symptom of it.
Trueman states the solution is a return of the church to its Biblical foundations. The late Herbert Schlossberg in his Idols for Destruction agreed and warned us that:
By accepting the dead end of the reigning assumption, the church absorbs whatever conclusions “enlightened” people consider current and functions as just another means used by the political and social establishment to integrate society’s values into the next generation. The support it receives depends on the extent to which it uncritically transmits its values. Its passivity makes it acceptable and ensures its irrelevance.
|
The Word of God assures us that when the people of God return to their devotion to Christ, the culture follows. It is the promise of Micah chapter 4. It was foreshadowed in the day of King Solomon when the wisdom of Christ brought the nations to Jerusalem’s throne from I Kings three all the way to I Kings 10.
And the people of all nations came to hear the wisdom of Solomon, and from all the kings of the earth, who had heard of his wisdom.
~I Kings 4:34
This is the mission of the people of God today. To pray as Jesus taught us to pray that His Kingdom would come and His will be done on earth as it is in heaven (Matthew 4). It is incumbent upon us to obey his final command to disciple all nations (Matthew 28).
We live in a time to be optimistic in our obedience to Chris’s calling.
Come this Wednesday to gain insights and encouragement for the battle before us.
|
We are in desperate need of returning to our foundations.
Thank you for your activism.

THE REVENGE OF TULSA SCHOOLS
AGAINST A GODLY TEACHER WILLING
TO STAND FOR RIGHTEOUSNESS
It is reprehensible that grown men and women are providing pornographic materials to our young people under the guise of education. To teach these same youth racist ideology is equally detestable.
The laws preventing both are now reported to have been shamelessly violated by brazen administrators and teachers. We thank God for the singular teacher willing to risk the Hell of the Tulsa School System which has come her way because she let us know that these laws have been violated.
What is completely vile and contemptable is not only the doxing which has taken place against this teacher but also the false rumors being spread about her.
All of this betrays the evil character of those who are pushing for Critical Race Theory, Diversity Equity Inclusion, and the other forms of the woke sexually promiscuous and racist ideology. As mentioned in the article above, it is what author Michael Walsh has called the demonic character of the Satanic kingdom of wokism.
This evil is on display in living colors
in the Tulsa School District.

We received this picture later after the OCPAC luncheon. It came with a note saying that Marshall was smiling the entire time the Governor was on the phone with him and as our more than 200 voices sang Happy Birthday to him.
Marshall spoke to OCPAC in person last year on his 99th birthday. Governor Frank Keating was on hand that day. A year later, his health did not allow him to attend, but he was showered with the attention of another Oklahoma Governor and the affection of OCPAC.
From the Governor of Oklahoma
to all of us in OCPAC ...
WE SALUTE YOU, MARSHALL!!!

REED DOWNEY RECEIVED
A STANDING OVATION
|
Reed Downey spoke about the American educational valley our youth have known all their lives. The nation which poses our most dangerous threat is Communist China. They are number one in science, mathematics, and reading.
|
At one time the U.S.A. held this position. Today, as a nation, we have been in a steep decline. No thanks to the National Education Association, the nation's teachers union, our classrooms are more interested in teaching sexual perversion, pornography, and racism than America's Christian foundations and the academic excellence which accompanied it.
|
The picture for Oklahoman families is even more dire, as we find ourselves at the bottom of a nation already lagging in academic achievement.
Oklahoma ranks 50th in the nation.
Here is how a few of our schools rank:
|
One alarming feature of this chart is that is demonstrates the complete incompetence of April Grace, Shawnee School Superintendent to achieve academic excellence. This, in addition to the many years of complaints from parents and students about sexual grooming being tolerated by administration in the district.
This is troubling because April Grace is on the ballot on August 23 to become the Oklahoma Superintendent of Public Instruction.
For this reason, it is imperative we get our family and friends out to vote for the candidate who the National Education Association is spending more than a million dollars to defeat. We must elect Ryan Walters as Oklahoma's next Superintendent of Public Instruction.
At the 19-minute mark:
Reed Downey speaks.
