Tick Tock nursery at Six Ways to open a branch in the Bells Lane Community Centre with the help of local Councillors
The Sun was shining and there was lots of fun to be had, by all at this year’s Queens Jubilee Celebrations! Aspley community came together to end a year of lockdowns! There was live music, free food and entertainment galore.
Big thanks to Diversify, Education & Communities CIC’s Shanine Fasasi and her band of Volunteers, The Aspley Councillors and Public Health who funded the day.
The Fire & Rescue Service, Nursing Staff and all stallholders and all the talented young people who made the day as good as the weather!
A massive big thanks to all the services who work tirelessly to make our streets clean. In particular, to Sue Stevenson who is Nottingham City Home’s Street and Block Champion and Chair of Customer Excellence Panel she was so committed, she insisted on continuing the litter pick in the rain! Also, thank to Evolve CIC and all the services who took part.

A final thought. It would be rather nice if people respected their community and didn’t drop litter in the first place.
We have just agreed a £700,000 programme for improving some of the pavements and roads in Aspley.
This is money which is ring fenced for highway work and cannot be spent on anything other - it sounds a lot but given the amount of work needed it is a drop in the ocean, nevertheless welcome.
Roads on the list are Lindfield, Lindbridge, Eltham, part of Frinton.
Paths - Camborne Drive, possibly Penrith and Redmile, Commodore Gardens. We are also setting money aside for tree work and bin replacement
As part of the Aspley Day of Action held on 25 June, our local Councillors, residents, Nottingham City Homes, Street Scene and Evolve CIC teams worked together with Notts Police and Fire & Rescue Service, to carry out high visibility checks on Broxtowe Country Park, tidying up, give fire prevention advice and fire alarm checks, all has making a noticeable improvement inthe local area – Thanks to all who took part!
Mini Police members from Rosslyn Primary School, in Broxtowe, were treated to a behind-the-scenes tour of the brand-new joint headquarters building at the force HQ.
Staff welcomed back one of Nottinghamshire Police’s Mini Police squads for the first visit since the easing of lockdown restrictions.
Drop-in surgeries with your local Councillors take place regularly, so why not come along to ask a question or share an idea on how to make Aspley a better place to live.
Drop in to meet your local Councillors on the 1st & 3rd Saturday of each month - 9.30am - 10.30am at Aspley Library, Nuthall Road and 11am - 12pm at Strelley Road Library.
