Little did Larry Clark Sr. know that the day his nephew didn't make the summer Little League team, he was destined to become a hero.
Larry organized a pick-up team for his nephew in their Little Rock, Arkansas neighborhood. But almost immediately, he noticed the kids seemed distracted. They were hungry. In fact, 6 out of 7 hungry kids don't get the summer meals they need.
Larry started bringing snacks for the kids on his team, but he wanted to do more for all of the hungry kids in his neighborhood. He partnered with his church to provide free summer meals to kids in need community-wide.
Many hungry kids depend on free school meals to keep their bellies full. But in summer when school's out, those meals disappear. That's why, thanks to supporters like you, providing summer meals is a top No Kid Hungry priority.
Larry's journey as a hunger hero began 20 years ago. In 2005, he joined forces with No Kid Hungry to reach even more kids. And today, his summer meals program reaches hundreds of kids.
John, the vast majority of kids who depend on free school meals for their nutrition don't have access to similar meals in summer. They need your help.
