A fellow Georgia Democrat needs our help

Dear John,

On November 23, 2012, my son Jordan was murdered. He was at a gas station when a man pulled up next to him, complained about “loud music,” and fired ten shots.

The loss of my son completely changed the trajectory of my life. I swore that I would do everything in my power to prevent another family from experiencing a loss like mine, so I decided to run for Congress. With your help, I became the first Democrat to represent Georgia’s 6th Congressional District since 1979.

And I’m asking for your help again to keep my fellow Georgia Democrat Sanford Bishop in office so I have an ally in Congress. Will you chip in $25 to his campaign before midnight to fuel the fight against gun violence?

During my time in office, preventing gun violence has been a top priority for me. I’m proud of the legislative wins we’ve had, like the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act and the Bipartisan Background Checks Act, both of which I co-sponsored.

But there’s still so much work to be done to make our schools, streets, and communities safer. And to do that, I need allies and a Democratic majority in the U.S. House.

My colleague Congressman Sanford Bishop is a fellow Georgia Democrat fighting with me to end gun violence. He’s facing a competitive race, and Republicans are pouring dark money into his race to flip his seat and the House. If he loses, we will lose the House majority, and our ability to fight for gun safety will be destroyed.

So please, can you chip in to help Congressman Bishop reach his July fundraising goal before the quickly approaching end-of-month deadline? Reaching this goal is vital to keeping his seat and holding the U.S. House.

Thank you,
Rep. Lucy McBath
