90 percent
The Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company accounts for 90 percent of the chip production for major U.S. tech firms. Amid heightened concerns that China may be poised to pursue military action to reintegrate Taiwan, the CHIPS for America Act is seen as an effort to boost domestic semiconductor production.

1.4 million barrels
The United States sent a projected 1.4 million barrels of oil a day to Europe during the second quarter of 2022. In the months since the invasion of Ukraine, U.S. exports have reached their highest levels since the ban on U.S. crude oil exports was lifted.

In 1973, women comprised 2 percent of the active-duty force. By 2020, 17.2 percent of the U.S. active-duty force were women, and the recent U.S. Supreme Court decision overturning Roe v. Wade raises several questions about how this will impact U.S. armed forces.

$8 billion
