John,

Our fight for democratic values has always been important. But between the radical Supreme Court, red-state Governors and state legislatures, and extreme MAGA Republicans in Congress, the threats to our fundamental rights and values are escalating. Our work to win elections this year is downright urgent.

I’m doing everything I can in a narrowly divided Congress. Following the Supreme Court’s terrible decision revoking abortion rights and strongly hinting at more bad decisions to come, I joined with my House colleagues to pass the Women’s Health Protection Act for the second time this year, the Right to Contraception Act, and the Respect for Marriage Act. These bills are a critical step toward codifying reproductive and other personal rights at the federal level. They can’t be trampled by radical GOP states. But the bills are stalled in the Senate, where Democrats are just two votes short of being able to dump the filibuster and pass this critical legislation.

On the climate crisis, the Supreme Court delivered another major blow with its West Virginia decision, siding with fossil fuel polluters instead of protecting the health of American families. We don’t have decades to sort this out - we must find ways to boldly confront the climate crisis. That’s why I urged President Biden to declare a National Climate Emergency and immediately unlock additional authorities and resources. It’s also why I introduced a monumental package of legislation to improve drought resiliency and boost wildfire recovery efforts.

Democracy itself is on the ballot this fall. My House colleagues on the January 6th Committee have worked relentlessly to uncover shocking facts about Trump's violent insurrection. Without the committee’s pursuit of truth and their commitment to getting the facts on the record, there would be no hope for justice. We will continue holding those responsible for the January 6th attack accountable - but this is only possible because we hold a narrow Democratic majority in the House. We must maintain and expand our majority to defend our democracy against the additional attacks we know are coming.

For those of us who care about democratic values, it’s time for an important decision: we must decide to win. Our purposeful, collective action is the only way we’re going to get this done.

Today marks 100 days until Election Day, which means every day between now and November 8 will be make-or-break in our work to protect and expand our Democratic majorities in Congress.

Will you pitch in before midnight to help us keep fighting for everything that’s at stake in this election?

Thank you for standing with me.

Jared
