Dear John,
This week, I was proud to help pass the CHIPS and Science Act, an historic piece of legislation that will lower costs for working families by significantly increasing our nation’s capacity to manufacture semiconductor chips. Everything from our cars, phones, TVs and microwaves require these semiconductor chips, and America only manufactures roughly 12 percent of the world’s supply. By making more in our country, we can protect good-paying jobs and boost American innovation. For years, bad policies have incentivized companies to ship good-paying jobs overseas and this legislation helps reverse that trend and rebuild our manufacturing industry.
My top priority is growing the Inland Empire’s economy and making things better for families like yours and mine. As San Bernardino County’s voice in Congress, I’m working daily to address inflation, make housing more affordable, lower gas and utility prices, and create more good-paying jobs in our region. I’ll continue to seek accountability from companies who are taking advantage of inflation to reward shareholders, not consumers, and raise their prices. That is why I recently voted for the Consumer Fuel Price Gouging Prevention Act, legislation that will crack down on oil and gas companies who put shareholders over consumers.
I know times are tough right now. But it is my hope that in the coming days, building off our efforts to revitalize American manufacturing and address supply chain challenges to help lower costs, we’ll pass legislation that will make prescription drugs more affordable for millions of Americans. I hope to have an update on that legislation for you soon.
Thanks,
Pete Aguilar Member of Congress
