#GE219 - make sure your communities go out and vote!
Thursday 12th December – Go Out and Vote!
The UK General Election is tomorrow, Thursday 12th December 2019. The MCB is calling on all affiliates to encourage their members to go out and vote.
British Muslims have a civic and religious duty to vote in tomorrow’s election. With the UK going through unprecedented change, and Muslims able to swing the vote in 31 constituencies, it is imperative all Muslims who are registered to vote use this opportunity to make their voices heard.
Your vote will make a difference. Comedian Tez Ilyas has a special message for Muslim communities on why everyone must go out and vote.
Who should I vote for?
The MCB has produced guidance comparing the Conservative, Labour and Liberal Democrat manifestos with the MCB’s ten key pledges to support Muslim communities, rating each parties’ commitments to Muslims. You can read our guidance here, and watch our video explaining our ten key pledges here.
How do I vote?
It’s easy! You just need to visit your polling station between 7am and 10pm, make a decision on which candidate best represents you, and check the box next to their name. You don’t need any ID or your polling card to vote. If you have a postal vote, but have not sent it back yet, you can take it to your polling station before it closes.
The Muslim Council of Britain is the UK's largest Muslim umbrella body with over
500 affiliated national, regional and local organisations, mosques,
charities and schools.
