Last week, the House of Representatives passed my bill to protect a woman’s right to contraceptives, including medication or devices, under federal law.

I have been a consistent fighter for abortion rights for years because, working in the medical field, I know what’s at stake— abortion rights are life and death for many people.

In the wake of Roe v. Wade being overturned last month, I know it’s crucial to keep pro-choice champions in Congress and get more of them elected. I need to protect my seat against my MAGA, right-wing opponent to keep fighting for this. We have a goal to raise $10,000 by tomorrow night for our July budget deadline. My colleagues and I aren’t giving up on this issue—but it’s a tough road with the Senate being completely split. We’ve passed bills like the Right to Contraception Act , the Women’s Health Protection Act , and the Ensuring Women’s Rights to Reproductive Freedom Act in the House. Still, we’ve got to do the work right now if we ever want them to pass into law.

The problem is that all these protections moving through the House right now will be completely wasted if we cannot gain a Democratic majority in the Senate and maintain power in Congress.
