Just over a week after the shooting in Uvalde, Texas, and in the aftermath of dozens of other mass shootings across the country, DeSantis vetoed funding for 83 additional positions to process concealed carry permits.
Not only did the Division of Licensing suspend almost 7,000 concealed weapons licenses for disqualifying offenses under my leadership, we also suspended weapons licenses for 36 people who participated in the January 6th insurrection.
It’s no wonder why DeSantis denied us funding — he wants permitless carry in Florida, no matter how many lives are put at risk, and he wants the support of violent, white supremacist insurrectionists when he runs for President in 2024.

And that’s not even the whole story, John. In the lead up to the 15-week abortion ban taking effect in July, DeSantis also decided to veto $2 million in funding to help low-income women access contraception.
