John,

For over four decades I've sought to truly understand and appreciate America's promise by telling its stories. Through my work I have found that the story of this great country is often best told through its inflection points.

And John, this year's election is one such inflection point.

Our history shows us that at moments like these we must come together to support the leaders who will fight to secure our future – leaders like Senator Maggie Hassan.

Our country stands at a crossroads that demands we respond with all the civil energies at our disposal. As we rise up to meet this moment, Americans must stand against the scourge of extremism that a Republican Senate majority would usher in. With a 50-50 split in the Senate, the Democratic majority is too fragile to allow the GOP to flip even one seat — and New Hampshire is too purple a state to leave to chance.

That's why I'm reaching out today to ask you to contribute whatever you can to our efforts to secure Democrat Maggie Hassan's bid for reelection. With only four months until Election Day we must act decisively to help Senator Hassan defend New Hampshire's Senate seat.
