Through the last rounds of this redistricting cycle, I’ve worked with our organizers to help produce the fairest maps in a generation. There’s plenty of work still to be done, but let’s take a moment and talk about our work.

I’ve worked with our team in states like North Carolina to mobilize voters to push for fair and inclusive maps and demand a transparent redistricting process. The fair maps movement, including our volunteers, helped lay the groundwork for courts to strike down gerrymandered Republican maps in states like Alabama, Ohio, and North Carolina -- some of which are still being litigated. We’re fighting for maps in which everyone can fairly participate in the American government.

But the game is changing.

Redistricting has always been tied to American democracy. Yet with new threats like the U.S. Supreme Court taking the “independent state legislature” theory case, Moore v. Harper , the stakes are higher than ever. The primary focus of our work will always be redistricting, but we know we can’t stop there.

With new challenges, we’re going to need more resources. Our fundraising goal for July is $30,000. We need all the help we can get. Can we count on you to donate by 11:59pm on July 31st? [[link removed]]

With an attack on our Capitol, unprecedented decisions by the Supreme Court, and far-right leadership hell-bent on ignoring the rule of law, we are facing never-before-seen attacks on American democracy. With the redistricting cycle coming to a close, you might expect that we’d take a backseat and let up the fight to protect our democracy and the right to vote.

We’re not going to do that. In fact, we’re going to do the opposite.
