Vote Smart released the following statement in response to Trudy Busch
Valentine's attack ad against Lucas and his campaign. Please feel free to

[ [link removed] ]PUBLIC STATEMENT FROM VOTE SMART, JULY 29th, 2022: Trudy Busch
Valentine, a candidate for the U.S. Senate in Missouri, has attacked her
opponent Lucas Kunce with information she knows to be false and used Vote
Smart's name to give her accusations credibility. This kind of negative
campaign activity deliberately deceives voters and is precisely the sort
of tactic that Vote Smart attempts to counter with its factual database.
By using Vote Smart's name to give credibility to these attacks, Trudy
Busch Valentine is cheating the public out of their need for trusted,
abundant, and accurate information. Vote Smart prohibits the use of its
name and programs, including the Political Courage Test, in partisan
political advertising. All candidates in Missouri have been notified of
this policy in writing. Additionally, this policy is posted on the Vote
Smart website. This kind of behavior occurs in less than 0.05 percent of
all races nationally. It is our policy to condemn this misue of Vote
Smart's name and reputation and to alert the public of any misuse of our
name or programs for negative political activities.
