Hey John, With so many different campaigns competing for attention in the midterms, I wanted to take a minute to explain why a donation to the NDRC is a great way to make a difference in multiple high-impact races. For one thing, just take a look at the impact our work helped to make in the most recent redistricting cycle:
Helping pro-democracy Democrats hold their majorities in Congress is hugely important, no doubt. But we can also make a big impact at the state level, where we need to continue to defend voting rights and block GOP gerrymandering at every available opportunity — and that’s where the NDRC comes in. Right now, we’re investing in 17 battleground states, with a focus on races that are critical to securing the future of democracy. That means state legislative races, state supreme court races, governor’s races, secretary of state races, and others that will play a big role in defending the right to vote and stopping GOP gerrymandering. Truly, it’s hard to overstate how important some of these races are. If the GOP is allowed to completely take over the machinery of our elections while continuing to manipulate maps and suppress votes it could eventually be lights out for our democracy — and that’s something we just can’t sit back and let happen.
