John,

Earlier this year, we told you how Trump-appointed Postmaster General DeJoy was undermining climate progress by purchasing 148,000 new gas-powered delivery vehicles, despite President Biden’s executive order to have all federal vehicle purchases be zero-emission by 2035.

Then , various environmental groups and 16 states sued the Postal Service over its fleet procurement decision. The lawsuit called out Postmaster General DeJoy’s deeply flawed techniques on the USPS’ environmental analysis that underpinned the current fleet order.

SEEC Members, spearheaded by SEEC Co-Chair Rep. Gerry Connolly, led the charge in Congress decrying DeJoy’s decision. They wrote letters to USPS, they called him out in the press, and they brought national attention to the issue.

Now, the United States Postal Service has committed to making 40% of its new delivery fleet electric – 4 out of 10 delivery trucks will be emission-free!

John, the pressure is working. SEEC members have refused to let up on Postmaster General DeJoy for actively defying the laws on the books to be a thorn in the Biden administration’s side. And while we’ll take the win, 40% isn’t nearly enough to reach our climate goals.

We all know that electric vehicles are a key component to reaching our nation’s carbon emissions goals. It’s vital that we continue the transition to zero-emission vehicles in order to clean up our air and fight back against the climate crisis.

SEEC members understand what’s at stake and are pushing for sustainable recovery policies that will help support the continued adoption of zero-emission electric vehicles. And they will also push back against those who seek to impede progress on these vital goals. Will you chip in to support our SEEC members and their fight for a sustainable future? [[link removed]]
