Dear John,
It’s been a busy week, but I wanted to loop you in on how I am fighting for our conservative values in Washington.
Democrats are no longer disguising their radical agenda to ban guns and do away with the Constitution's 2nd Amendment. Yesterday, they rushed their "assault weapons" ban to the floor. Republicans used every possible procedure to derail the bill, but the Democrats were able to pass it. I voted NO on this ineffective bill every chance I had. Their disregard for your rights in order to please their base will punish law-abiding citizens without reducing gun violence.
Reducing energy costs while also supporting our farmers is a win-win. That is why I signed on to the bipartisan Next Generation Fuels Act, which would lower fuel prices while reducing carbon emissions from transportation. By establishing a high-octane gasoline standard, the bill hopes to encourage advancements in engine design and fuel efficiency. This has the potential to lower fuel prices and increase America's independence by increasing the demand for corn-based ethanol produced here in Minnesota.
The GDP report released on Thursday confirmed our worst fears: the US economy is in a recession. The Democrats have pushed our country into further economic turmoil through inflationary spending and an energy-killing agenda. I promised to fight for ordinary Americans, including working to get the economy back on track. If it wasn’t obvious before, it’s obvious now: we must deprive Nancy Pelosi of the power of the purse and restore fiscal responsibility. The only way to move forward and rebuild our economy is for conservatives to retake control of the House in November.
John, America cannot afford to be run by the Left. This is why I ran for Congress—to stand up for our values and represent the 7th Congressional District. Any amount you contribute below will help us fight to protect our conservative values and personal liberties.
