John, it’s not always doom and gloom here at Power the Vote.

Here’s some great news about voting rights this week:

Delaware passed no-excuse absentee voting and same-day registration, which makes voting easier and more accessible for all
A Michigan court struck down a legislative practice that has been used to avoid submitting ballot initiative language to voters in its original form — this will clarify and simplify the process for voters
And California enacted a new law that will provide more transparency around signature verification for ballots
This is all GOOD NEWS! All of these measures will make it easier for voters to make their voices heard.

But there’s bad news, too …

Wisconsin’s Republican-majority legislature rejected an effort to count valid ballots with minor omissions, such as a missing zip code for their ballot's witness. This means that even the smallest mistake on a ballot could cause the ballot to be disqualified.
What’s more, a recent Wisconsin Supreme Court decision invalidating drop boxes makes it much harder — and in some cases, impossible — for disabled or elderly voters to cast their ballots.
And according to reporting, “Florida voters face new hurdles due to ID requirements.”
We’ve got a lot to do, and we need your help to get it done. We’re funding voter protection staff in battleground states – who are working overtime to help voters make their voices heard.

So I’m reaching out to personally ask you to chip in our Power the Vote’s July fundraising goal. Please, help us reach our goal of $5,000 so we can ensure we have the resources to defend voting rights, even in the face of endless assaults on our democracy.

Can I count on you, John?
