Five Years Stronger: The 2022 Congressional Baseball Game
Five years after the Congressional Baseball Game shooting, I was grateful to be able to play again this week and celebrate Republicans' 10-0 victory over the Democrats. I was also proud to be a part of a bipartisan tradition that raised a record-setting $1.7 million for charities.
I cherish every day I get to come out in the Big League Ballpark and play in this annual game. God was on that ball field that day in 2017. There were miracles that no one can explain except that God was there protecting us, and I thank God every day that He was there to look out for all of us.
Being out on the ball field with my friends and colleagues on both sides of the aisle reminds me of how blessed I am to be an American, and how important it is that we stand together and continue to put America first.
Biden Attempts to Redefine a Recession

In the last week, President Biden has spent more time trying to redefine what a recession is rather than working to lay out a plan to get our nation out of a recession. We’ve seen the indicators for months now. Families are paying more for goods everywhere they go. You would think President Biden would be spending all of his time trying to figure out a plan to fix this crisis – but in fact, we’re seeing the opposite. We’re seeing denial.
President Biden cannot redefine his way out of this crisis. He must reverse the failed policies that got us here in the first place.
Meanwhile, Republicans have a plan for how to get inflation under control, lower gas prices, secure America's border, and put parents in charge of their kids' education again.
Introducing Legislation to Ensure Louisiana Gets Fair Share of Revenues From Offshore Energy — Including Wind
I introduced bipartisan legislation with Congressman Troy Carter (D-La.) that updates the Gulf of Mexico Energy Security Act (GOMESA) to increase coastal states' share of oil and natural gas revenue, ensuring increased funding for coastal restoration and hurricane protection.
For years, I have fought to increase the share of oil and gas revenue that Louisiana receives from GOMESA to 50 percent, leveling out the playing field with interior states. The BREEZE Act not only achieves that goal but goes even further by allowing Louisiana to collect revenue from future offshore wind development in the Gulf of Mexico, which our state can use to continue to make major investments in coastal restoration and hurricane protection projects that protect Louisiana families from storms.
Read the op-ed that I co-authored with Congressman Carter for The Advocate explaining how our bill allows us to equalize the playing field with onshore states, invest early in offshore wind production, and provide hundreds of millions more dollars to restore our coast.
Recognizing Importance of Elevating Louisiana Highway 1
Recently, I was honored to receive an award from the LA 1 Coalition for our work together on the Louisiana Highway 1 Improvement Project to elevate the remaining stretch of highway connecting Golden Meadow and Leeville.
Elevating LA 1 has long been a top priority of mine, and this project is a significant step forward for our region’s safety and the nation’s energy security. I’m proud to work hand-in-hand with local and state leaders, Port Fourchon, and the offshore oil and gas industry to achieve this great milestone.
It is an honor to represent you in Congress. For more information, please visit my website, Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook pages.
