Friend,
There's a lot going on in our effort to keep Illinois’ 17th District blue, so we wanted to take a moment and give you the latest updates directly from HQ:
- Last month, Eric Sorensen won the Democratic primary in IL-17 by a significant margin. We also learned that our opponent for the general election will be Republican Esther King.
- Esther King is an anti-choice extremist who local voters already rejected in 2020. After redistricting, IL-17 is even less favorable for Republicans than in years past. Her agenda is completely out of touch with our community.
- Because King faced little opposition in her primary, her campaign has a significant cash advantage over Eric headed into the general election. She’s also poised to benefit from $3 million in TV attack ads courtesy of a Kevin McCarthy aligned super PAC.
- With just 5 seats standing between McCarthy and the Speaker's gavel, our race has been singled out as one of the “most consequential” in the country that could determine House control.
We’re coming up just short of our $45,000 online fundraising goal ahead of tomorrow’s end-of-month deadline. If you haven’t yet, can we count on you to chip in $5 to keep IL-17 blue and protect our Majority?
