Did you know that 45% of Philadelphia residents are Black yet only own 2.5% of businesses?
Our city’s history of redlining and underinvesting in Black and Brown communities has resulted in inequity and inequality, and as your Councilmember, I am working every day to undo the existing disparities within our systems and institutions.
Black and Brown Americans have been victims of racist banking policies for generations — this is why I’m fighting to create a landmark public bank. Can you chip in today to support my vision of a Philadelphia that works for all?

For years, I championed the creation of a public bank in Philadelphia that would use city dollars to help grow Black and Brown businesses. Although my bill passed near-unanimously in the city council, Mayor Jim Kenney is refusing to provide funding or appoint board members to this project.
Make no mistake: There’s clear public support behind the idea. We must step up and meet this moment.
I am working hard to bring long-awaited progress to our city. If you’re with me, please make a donation today to support my work.
Thank you,
Councilmember Derek Green
