NEWS & RAPID RESPONSE
GLAAD continues to respond to Monkeypox (MPV) outbreak in
the U.S.
Dashawn Usher interviewed about Monkeypox
[link removed]
As MPV numbers steadily increase in the United States, GLAAD is
continuing to raise awareness of the disease, curtail misinformation,
and ensure accurate coverage of LGBTQ people throughout the outbreak.
GLAAD's Communities of Color Director DaShawn Usher recently
appeared on Facebook's The Special Report with Areva Martin to
discuss the spread and its impact on the LGBTQ community. Usher
discusses GLAAD's MPV factsheet for reporters, vaccine
demand within the LGBTQ community, and GLAAD's work to ensure
"facts over fear" as the media responds to the virus.

Have you confirmed you're registered to vote?
Before you vote: Confirm your status
[link removed]
Before you cast your vote in this year's midterm elections: Have
you checked your registration lately? Confirm your voter registration
status at Headcount.org now. It takes less than a minute and ensures
you are all ready to go for your state's elections.

Voting for candidates who support LGBTQ rights is critical. Florida's
"Don't Say Gay/Trans" bill, which was recently signed into law, has
emboldened anti-LGBTQ activists and politicians to push for
discriminatory legislation in other states. And the Supreme Court's
decision to overturn Roe v. Wade has not only stripped women and LGBTQ
people of bodily autonomy, it has thrown other rights, such as
marriage equality, into question.
Once you confirm your voter registration status, take your activism
one step further by asking two friends or family members to vote with
you this year! If they aren't registered yet, they can also sign
up at Headcount.org.

Watch Anything's Possible on Amazon Prime

Now available on Prime Video, Anything's Possible is a
coming-of-age romance that follows Kelsa (Eva Reign), a confident
young trans woman who is navigating her senior year of high school.
When her classmate Khal (Abubakr Ali) gets a crush on her, he musters
up the courage to ask her out despite the drama he knows it could
cause. The result is a YA romance that showcases the joy, tenderness,
and pain of young love.
Anything's Possible marks a big moment for LGBTQ representation
in media and what is possible when queer people create queer stories.
The movie is the feature directorial debut for Emmy winner Billy
Porter as well as the feature acting debut for Eva Reign. Written by
Ximena García Lecuona and based on the script titled What If?,
it also marks one of the first major releases of a project included on
the inaugural GLAAD List in 2019 and the Black List in 2020.Read our
blog post about the movie (including an interview with Billy Porter,
