Team,
Exciting news – our second ad of the campaign is officially live and is on televisions in Michigan’s new 7th district. Check it out:
This ad highlights one of Elissa’s priorities in Congress: working with anyone, Republican or Democrat, that’s serious about lowering the cost of prescription drugs. There was no one better to help us highlight that message than Dr. George Smith, a family medicine physician based in Lansing.
Because of Elissa’s Real Time Benefits Act, a bipartisan bill that President Trump signed into law, Dr. Smith’s patients will soon be able to comparison-shop and see the pharmacy with the lowest price for their prescriptions before they even leave his office. It’s no-brainer legislation such as this, and things like capping monthly insulin costs at $35, capping annual out-of-pocket drug costs for seniors at $2000, as well as allowing Medicare to negotiate prescription drug prices that fuels so much of Elissa’s work.
On the other hand, her opponent has been much more friendly to the pharmaceutical industry during his time in the state legislature. He voted to continue allowing pharmaceutical companies to escape accountability when their drugs hurt or kill people, upholding a Michigan law—the only one in the country—that shields them from nearly all liability. One of his top donors, a major backer of the immunity law, donated $40,000 to him directly and spent more than $250,000 supporting his campaigns.
Thanks for checking out the ad, and if you liked it – consider chipping in a few bucks. Contributions from our grassroots supporters are a big part of the reason we’re able to film these!
