Her Dad raised her on three principles: work hard, be honest, and respect everyone. She spent her life watching him pour his heart into bettering his community, and she became a first-generation college graduate and pursued a career in law to protect that community.

In 2016, she would make history as the first woman from Nevada and first Latina ever elected to the United States Senate. The odds were stacked against her, and many said she had no chance of winning.
