John – I know it doesn't always seem like it, but there IS good news in the fight for our democracy. Let's talk about it.
Voting rights
I'm sure you've heard that Republicans like Ron DeSantis and Greg Abbott have signed laws restricting the freedom to vote. But did you know that in 2022, lawmakers in at least 44 states have considered nearly 600 bills to expand access to voting? That's more than the nationwide number of restrictive bills!
Fair redistricting
Yes, it's very frustrating that Republicans keep trying to gerrymander – and that the Trump Supreme Court has been letting them get away with it in some states. But take a look at what this movement helped achieve in three key swing states:
That's incredible! And it matters. Voters in these states (and more across the country) now have the opportunity to elect representatives who actually represent them. And you helped make it happen.
