JOHN,
I’m the communications and political director for Rashida Tlaib’s re-election campaign.
As of yesterday, a Super PAC associated with a Wall Street hedge fund billionaire has spent nearly $1 million on misleading TV ads attacking Rashida.
This billionaire has made controversial racist statements about a Black lawmaker in New York State and makes money off of the polluting oil and gas industry—including Marathon Petroleum, a corporation Rashida has taken to account for its clean air violations in her district.
Voters have also received attack mailers from a dark money entity that has not disclosed its donors or spending. Our campaign has received numerous calls from voters angered that outsiders are trying to sway their vote and buy this election.
The campaign has also received many calls from Detroiters about not receiving their absentee ballots, which is deeply concerning given that Rashida’s opponent—who these ads attempt to benefit—is Detroit’s City Clerk and in charge of the city’s elections.
Will you chip in $5 or more today so we can fight back against these attempts to twist Rashida’s record on delivering for families and working people?
We’re continuing our strong voter contact program in these last few days before Election Day next Tuesday, August 2nd.
We’re focused on making sure our neighbors have what they need in these trying times, answering questions that they have about the voting process, and ensuring that they know about Rashida’s strong track record of delivering for Michigan’s new 12th Congressional District.
Our campaign has knocked over 25,000 doors and made 120,000 calls so far, and we’re still going.
Please donate now so we can keep up this people-powered movement and counter billionaires’ attempts to buy this election.
