Dear John,

This week, we officially had our second consecutive quarter of negative GDP growth - a sign of a recession according to many economists. After two years of completely unchecked spending driving crippling inflation, this report comes as no surprise to anyone – but it won’t stop Democrats from teeing up hundreds of billions more in spending in the coming weeks.

Meanwhile, the CCP continues to threaten our ally, Taiwan. I introduced legislation this week to ensure that Taiwan has the capabilities to defend itself if the CCP attacks. The House also passed an important bill to extend telehealth flexibility for the tens of millions of Americans who rely on this service for their healthcare. Read on to learn more...

Supporting Our Allies, Standing Up to the CCP
Today I introduced the Taiwan Democracy Defense Lend-Lease Act with Rep. Jimmy Panetta (D-CA) and Senator Marsha Blackburn (R-TN). This legislation will authorize the Administration to lend or lease defense supplies to the Government of Taiwan.

The introduction of this bill comes just days after the people of Taiwan had to participate in more air raid drills in the event of an attack from the Chinese Communist Party. The CCP continues to intimidate and pressure our ally, and the United States should always be on the side of freedom and democracy.

I’m proud to lead this bipartisan bill in Congress to show the CCP that we will not back down from supporting our allies.

Below is information from the State Department, and I will continue to keep you updated as more resources are shared. Please don't hesitate to contact my office if we can be of service.

Q: I am a U.S. citizen and need a passport to depart Ukraine. What should I do? The Department of State is not able to offer in-person emergency consular services in Ukraine at this time. U.S. citizens in Ukraine should fill out the online assistance form at: https://cacms.state.gov/s/crisis-intake and the Department of State will respond.

Q. Is the U.S. Embassy in Kyiv still open for visa applications?
