Hi there, John! I just wanted to make sure you saw this message from my precious son, Taylor.

He is one of the truest treasures of my heart, and I would do absolutely anything to make sure he can live and love in our country as his radiant, authentic self. And as your next Congresswoman, I’ll go to work every day to ensure our fundamental rights aren’t up for debate.

If you’re able, please chip in before my end-of-month fundraising deadline so we can vote my anti-LGBTQ+ opponent out of office this November:

Subject: Mike Flood doesn’t get a say in who I love.
To: John <[email protected]>

John, I’m Taylor Pansing Brooks — Patty’s son and a proud LGBTQ+ Nebraskan.

I wanted to reach out because frankly, it’s unconscionable that our legislators continue to vote against what should be our most fundamental human right: The right to love whomever we love.

Nebraska hasn’t always been kind to our LGBTQ+ neighbors, and I’m grateful every day that I grew up in a family that has loved and accepted me every moment of every day, without reservation.

Over the last eight years, my mom has fought fiercely on the floor of the Nebraska Legislature for people like me to live and love without fear of discrimination — at work, in our communities, and in the privacy of our homes. She knows that being gay, or bi, or trans, or gender nonconforming, isn’t a choice — it’s simply who we are.

The choice lies in whether we come out as our true and authentic selves, or if we continue to suppress the most inextricable parts of our identity because it makes some of our elected officials uncomfortable. People like Mike Flood are voting to keep us in the shadows. I say it’s time to rise up and vote him out of office this November.

My mom has dedicated her career to ensuring all Nebraskans can enjoy our state’s promise to equality before the law. She’s fought like only a mother can for anybody who needs an ally, and she doesn’t give up until justice has been achieved.

If you’re ready to send a woman to Congress who will lead with compassion and uphold our right to full equality before the law, please consider making a contribution to support my mom, Patty Pansing Brooks, and her campaign today. She’s coming up on a big fundraising deadline, and with a tough few months ahead, she’s going to need a lot of help from us to secure a win this November:

Thank you so much for having my mom’s back, John. We’re so fortunate to have the best grassroots team in Nebraska on our side :)

In gratitude,

Taylor Pansing Brooks
