Dear YLP Alumni,

We hope you all are doing well! We’re reaching out to share about a new program Heritage is offering to train aspiring Hill staff – Ready, Set, HILL.

For those seeking their first job on Capitol Hill, "Ready, Set, HILL" distills the training and skill-building sessions needed into a two-day, intensive learning program, taught by Hill veterans, skill coaches, and other professionals. Below are some of the topics that will be covered:

· Fundamentals: Capitol Hill 101
· Opportunities: Who Does What in a Hill Office?
· How the House and Senate Really Work
· Oversight Basics
· Writing Fundamentals for the Hill
· Constituent Communications: The Art of Letter Writing
· Engaging Outside Resources
· Acing the Interview
· Professional Polish for the Hill

We will provide four such intensives both virtually and in person between now and October.

If you’re among those who are interested in staffing a Member of the House or Senate, please consider applying. If you’re already on the Hill or otherwise happily employed, please pass this news along! Your networks are valuable, and we’d love to receive applications from your friends and colleagues who are interested in this professional step.

You can apply here to the August, September, or October cohorts! Breakfast and lunch will be provided to in-person participants! For any questions, please email Ross Hougham at [email protected]. We hope to see some of your applications.
