John, companies like Verizon and Comcast shouldn't get to control what we can see and do online – or charge massive fees to visit high-traffic websites.
But in 2017, Donald Trump's Federal Communications Commission (FCC) repealed Net Neutrality protections and eliminated its own ability to oversee the Internet – giving Big Cable companies this unfettered power.
If we don't take this chance to reverse that dangerous decision, we could lose our ability to access a free and fair Internet.
Sign the Petition: Urge Congress to pass the Net Neutrality and Broadband Justice Act – and make the Internet more accessible for all of us >>
Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, one thing has become entirely clear: people in our 21st-century democracy need reliable Internet service.
But our ability to access the web on just, reasonable, and nondiscriminatory terms could be tampered with by Big Cable companies at any moment – unless Congress gives the FCC the power to restore Net Neutrality protections.
John, that’s exactly what a new bill from Sen. Ed Markey, Sen. Ron Wyden, and Rep. Doris Matsui would do. If we can get the Net Neutrality and Broadband Justice Act over the finish line – plus ensure that President Biden’s FCC nominee Gigi Sohn is confirmed – the FCC will finally be able to take REAL action to defend the Internet.
But our legislators won’t act unless they hear that this is a TOP priority for their constituents. So if you believe that high-speed internet should be available and affordable for all – especially people of color and people in rural regions – now is the time to speak out.
Add your name if you agree: Congress needs to step up for our right to a free and fair Internet by passing the Net Neutrality and Broadband Justice Act.
I hope we can count on your voice today.
Thanks for all you do,
