Dear Community Stakeholders and Friends,

Presently, efforts are now underway to reopen New York’s economy. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the unemployment rate for Brooklyn is steadily decreasing from 7.5 - 6.3 %. Consequently, the drop in the unemployment rate has helped foster a steady growth in job creation within our district. However, more work still needs to be done.

To continue this trend in job creation, I will host our first Summer Job Fair event on Saturday, July 30, 2022. This event will be held at the Major Owens Recreation Center between the hours of 10 AM to 2 PM. Job Opportunities will span from the public to private sectors, offering a variety of positions in the city, state, federal, and nonprofit agencies. Also, there will be on-the-spot employment opportunities offered by various community partners.
